Adding to faith during trials
Learning from trials, anybody who tries to create a fantasy world where everything is perfect is only setting themselves up for even a more profound sadness, frustrations and sorrow. Trials reminds us of a greater affection for that which is eternal which that our affections should be on things above. Trials puts me in perspective to reveal what I really love which are my eternal blessings. Many people think they are Christians and claim to know God however when severe difficulties come into their lives, they can't really face the reality because they don't truly know Him and His Character. That they were unable to deal with the trials, their faith is revealed to be dead because of "worrying" and other human negative emotional reactions. Trials are intended to train Christians out of their worldly security and awaken them to the fact that they are to TRUST God during their trials or fall but at the same time, don't trust yourself or trust your faith. TRUST GOD. In the book of James, the entire letter is about living faith during trials and list the tests intended to reveal the legitimacy of someone's faith. The VERY first test is the test of severe trials which means that we need to understand the strength or the genuineness of our own faith. Trials cannot destroy true faith; they only put it to the test and strengthen it as in Spiritual Training. As in "measure of faith", my faith grows STRONGER.
Continue in Faith: Acts 14:22 'strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. "We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God," they said.' Colossians 1:22-23 But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
Be Strong in Faith: Romans 4:20-25 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness." The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
